We all need a little music in our lives, and maybe this summer, we need a little
more.
And with your help and support, there will again be music at the Community
Center. Jazz in July, a Wind Quintet midsummer, and in August the New
England premiere of a previously unknown Mozart serenade discovered just
last year in a Leipzig library.
Saturday, July 18 — 7:30 pm Ana Vidovic
Ana Vidovic, a native of Croatia, is an internationally-acclaimed classical guitarist. Her career includes frequent recitals, concerto engagements, festival appearances, and tours all over the world. This season she is touring in Europe and across North America. She has won more than twenty awards at international competitions, including first prizes in the Albert Augustine Memorial International Competition (Bath, England), the Fernando Sor competition (Rome, Italy), and the Francisco Tárrega International Guitar Competition (Spain, 1998). She has released six CDs, two live DVDs, and has been featured on numerous compilation albums. On Chappy, Ana will perform a program of Bach, Ponce, Scarlatti, Schubert, Fumic, and Mangore.
Saturday, August 8 — 7:30 pm All’s Well Sisters
All’s Well Sisters, a new jazz vocal ensemble based in New York City. Started as a remote project during the COVID-19 pandemic. Inspired by a speech made by the Queen of England, in which she reassured the world that “we will meet again,” referring to Vera Lynn’s 1939 song of the same title, the group created a new arrangement of the piece using close, intricate harmonies made famous by The Boswell Sisters trio, a jazz-era sensation of the 1930s. The new All’s Well Sisters then kept looking for more uplifting songs to sing. As the group describes itself: “We studied classical music and were being prepared for the stage and a concert tour throughout the United States, but the saxophone got us.”
On Chappy, All’s Well Sisters will perform a “Silver-lining Songbook”
Saturday, August 15 — 7:30 pm Harlem Quartet
The Grammy-winning Harlem Quartet, featuring Ilmar Gavilán, Melissa White, Jaime Amador, and Felix Umansky, has earned acclaim for its dynamic performances and fresh approach to classical music. The Quartet's 2025-2026 season includes appearances at the Lensic Performing Arts Center in Santa Fe, Telluride Chamber Music, and leading university series around the nation, including Arizona State University, Emory University, Lawrence University, Oregon State University, Purdue Convocations, and a residency at the University of Iowa in collaboration with their recent Grammy collaborators, the Imani Winds.
On Chappy, the Quartet will perform a program of Benjamin Britten, the cuban composer Lopez-Gavilan, and Ludwig van Beethoven.
